Transparency with Development

Lenny Lolis emphasizes transparency and resident involvement in White Plains’ city planning and development. He aims to ensure balanced representation, clear communication of project costs, and an inclusive process where residents’ voices are heard. Lenny rejects the notion of “You can’t fight City Hall,” striving to eliminate discouragement and empower community participation. As Mayor, he pledges to make City Hall work for the residents, fostering an open and responsive government.

Affordability

Lenny Lolis is committed to making White Plains an affordable place to live for all, particularly for the city’s workforce, including police, fire, and municipal workers. He advocates for creating truly affordable housing to enable first responders and staff to live where they work, reducing long commutes and retaining well-trained personnel. Lenny highlights the issue of high retraining costs due to staff turnover, which burdens taxpayers. He also addresses the challenge of high taxes that make it difficult for seniors and young families to afford living in White Plains. As Mayor, Lenny aims to fight for affordability, fostering a community where residents can call White Plains home, stay long-term, and grow their families, reducing transient residency and building a thriving, stable community.

Investing in Public Safety

Lenny Lolis is committed to enhancing public safety in White Plains to ensure every family feels secure and proud to call the city home. His vision includes revitalizing downtown to create a family-friendly environment through increased police presence and community engagement. Drawing from his childhood memories of White Plains, Lenny recalls a time when police officers walked the beat, rode mounted patrols, and used motorcycles and bicycles to engage with the community. He notes a decline in visible policing, such as officers walking downtown, which he believes is essential for fostering safety and trust.

To address this, Lenny advocates for reinvesting in visible, community-oriented policing strategies. This includes bringing back officers on foot patrols, bicycles, and potentially mounted or motorcycle units to enhance downtown safety and accessibility. These efforts would make police more approachable, strengthen community ties, and deter crime, aligning with the White Plains Police Department’s existing commitment to community engagement, as seen in programs like the Youth Police Initiative and National Night Out. With 203 police officers serving White Plains (3.5 per 1,000 residents, above state and national averages), Lenny would leverage this robust force to ensure a visible presence that makes downtown a welcoming place for families.

Additionally, Lenny’s focus on public safety ties into his broader goal of downtown revitalization, supported by the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant awarded to White Plains in 2024. This funding emphasizes safe pedestrian and bike infrastructure, which complements increased police visibility to create a vibrant, secure urban core. By prioritizing these measures, Lenny aims to make White Plains a city where families can safely enjoy all its offerings, from restaurants to community events, fostering pride and long-term residency.

Reducing the Financial Burden

Lenny Lolis is focused on alleviating the financial strain on White Plains residents by addressing high taxes and rising utility costs. His approach involves a thorough review of city budgets to identify and eliminate unnecessary expenses, ensuring that taxpayer funds are prioritized for services and initiatives that directly benefit the community.

His goal is to make White Plains a financially sustainable place to live, where retirement and long-term residency are achievable realities.

If you’d like specifics on Lenny’s proposed budget cuts, utility cost strategies, or how he plans to support retirees and families, let me know.

By streamlining spending, Lenny aims to reduce the tax burden, making it more feasible for seniors to retire in White Plains and for young families to afford staying in the city. Additionally, he seeks to tackle rising utility costs, such as those from ConEdison, by advocating for transparent and fair billing practices, like ensuring residents are not automatically enrolled in higher-cost energy programs without clear consent.
